Subject and method The cross-sectional descriptive research method was conducted on 90 pediatric patients after surgery for appendicitis peritonitis at the Vietnam National hospital of Pediatrics from August 2022 to March 2023. Results During the first day of feeding the child after surgery most of the energy provided to the child came from complete intravenous nutrition with a rate of 95 . On average during a 7-day hospital stay only 20 patients met more than 50 of the recommended energy needs and patients met more than 50 of the recommended protein needs. Conclusion On average during 7 days of hospitalization most pediatric patients do not meet more than 50 of the recommended needs for energy and protein.
