Classification of pneumonia severity helps to make decisions about home treatment or hospitalization that are important to clinicians. There are many classifications and scales to assess the severity of community-acquired pneumonia in children that have been applied and studied. Each classification scale has advantages disadvantages and different applicability. Classification of the WHO 2014 based only on clinical manifestations can be widely applied at primary health care levels and primary care facilities. At the better equipped facilities the classification of the Infectious Diseases Society of Japan or the British Thoracic Society can be applied.
