During stress (coughing or straining) the intraurethral pressure rises in normal patients. The rise in pressure within the urethra precedes the rise in pressure in the bladder by 160-240 milliseconds (Enhorning 1961, Constantinou and Govan 1982, van der Kooi et al. 1984, Pieber et al. 1998). This means, that the increased pressure within the urethra during stress must be due to an active muscle contraction and cannot be a passive transmission of the abdominal pressure. | CARDIOTOXICITY OF ONCOLOGIC TREATMENTS Edited by Manuela Fiuza INTECHOPEN.COM Cardiotoxicity of Oncologic Treatments Edited by Manuela Fiuza Published by InTech Janeza Trdine 9 51000 Rijeka Croatia Copyright 2012 InTech All chapters are Open Access distributed under the Creative Commons Attribution 3.0 license which allows users to download copy and build upon published articles even for commercial purposes as long as the author and publisher are properly credited which ensures maximum dissemination and a wider impact of our publications.
