The vulnerability of cyanobacteria to environmental impact and their possible depletion or extinction like other microalgae necessitated the understanding of the distribution of cyanobacterial population in selected aquatic bodies which are important to economic, recreational and religious activity of people. It was also considered important to characterize cyanobacterial population in relation to physico-chemical parameters of water bodies. |
