Component-based software development is gaining recognition as the key technology for the construction of high-quality, evolvable and large software systems in timely and affordable manners. Commercial components (COTS) is being used more and more in Component-Based Software Engineering for building software applications, and accordingly, some mechanisms are demanded by developers of software applications to describe, search, select and compose COTS components.
