Subjects and methods: A cohort study on 68 criminal offenders diagnosed with mental and behavioral disorders due to alcohol consumption (F10 ICD 10) by Mental Forensics Appraisal Board of National Institute of Forensic Psychiatry. Results: Factors influencing the criminal behaviors are mainly family history of alcohol dependence (61.76%), unsatisfactory family (79.41%), financial difficulties (32.35%), personality change (100%), consciousness disorder (61.76%), delusions (52.94%); hallucinations (54.41%), explosive emotion (77.94%) and violent incitement (76.47%). Conclusion: Personality change, family disharmony, explosive emotion and violent incitement are main promoted factors in the alcoholic users. *Keywords: Offense, Alcoholic users; Criminal behaviors. INTRODUCTION Many alcohol users, including alcohol abusers or alcoholisms, can commit crimes such as aggression and violent behavior. About 40% of criminal offenses are attributed to alcohol use. There are many factors that incite offense in alcohol users. The most common factors are personality change, family disharmony, explosive emotion and violent incitement. In Vietnam, there haven’t been studies on the factors inciting violence in alcohol users. Therefore, we conduct this research aimed: To do a survey on factors inciting offense in alcohol users in forensic psychiatry.
