Horinko Acting Administrator This memorandum transmits the results of an Office of Inspector General OIG survey that gauged the public s perception of air quality information received after the collapse of the World Trade Center WTC towers Data from this survey supplement our earlier report ERA S Response to the World Trade Center Collapse Challenges. Successes and Areas for Improvement Report No. 20O3-P-00DI2 dated August 21 2003. EPA communicated air quality information to the public through press releases interviews with print and television journalists appearances al public forums and posting of extensive data on the Agency s public web site Concerns were raised however about government communications tn the aftermath of the WTC disaster and the impact these communications had on the actions taken by the public and responders to reduce their exposure to WTC contaminants.
