Birth weight and the growth curve of the progenies of such imported cows were also measured. Results show that the imported Brahman cows had an average calving interval of 412 days that of Drought Master cows days 37 days longer than Brahman cows. Gestation length of both Brahman and Drought Master cows averaged 286-287 days similar to the values recorded on other imported Brahman and Drought Master herds. Birth weights of the Brahman calves were and kg for male and female respectively whereas those for Drought Master were and kg. Weights at 6 months old were and for Brahman male and female and and 128 kg for respective Drought Master calves showing similar weaning weights between the two breeds. However weights at 2 years old were on average for Brahman and kg for Drought Master calves indicating a higher growth rate of Drought Master than Brahman calves raised under the same feeding .
