tailieunhanh - THE SCULPTURE OF VIBRATIONS
Dadang Christanto is a graduate of the Indonesia Institute of the Arts, Yogyakarta. Since 1999, he has taught at the School of Art and Design, University of the Northern Territory. His art explores social and political issues in a wide range of media, including painting, drawing, performance, sculpture and installation. The sunflashes on the encrusted branches of this soaring sculpture suggest the wing movements of roosting metal birds. But the blade shapes are also like hands, lifted heavenwards by the dead tree so that they can touch the sky. Indonesian folklore, like many European fairy tales, imbues forests and trees with associations. | Ị h A window open on the world Courier December 1969 22nd year - . 2-stg - Canada .40 cents - France F THE SCULPTURE OF VIBRATIONS TREASURES OF WORLD ART Punic pendant This little masterpiece of paste jewellery actual size shown on right is a necklace pendant fashioned by a craftsman of ancient Carthage in the form of a mask whose white face contrasts sharply with the deep blue tones of the eyes hair and beard. Carthage quickly became the greatest commercial power in the western Mediterranean exporting to its overseas trading posts a wealth of mass produced objects which as we may judge from this pendant did not debase the ancient Phoenician tradition of elegant craftsmanship.
