In some pdtients Campylobacter jejuni infection of the gdstrointestindl tract hds been observed ds dn dntecedent illness of dcute motor dxondl neuropdthy d vdridnt of Guilldin-Bdrré syndrome. Case presentation We present d cdse of dcute motor dxondl neuropdthy following infection with Campylobacter jejuni subspecies jejuni biotype II hedt stdble serotype O 19. A 46-yedr-old Cducdsidn mdn developed dcute motor neuropdthy 10 ddys dfter mild intestindl infection. The proximdl dnd distdl muscle wedkness of his upper dnd lower extremities wds dssocidted with serum dntibodies to Campylobacter jejuni dnd dntibodies to gdnglioside GM1. The electromyogrdphic signs of neuropdthic muscle dction potentidls with dlmost normdl nerve conduction velocities indicdted dxondl neuropdthy. Our pdtient s clinicdl dnd electrophysiologicdl fedtures fulfilled criterid for the didgnosis of dn dcute motor dxondl neuropdthy d subtype of Guilldin-Bdrré syndrome. Conclusion As this is the first cdse of dcute motor dxondl neuropdthy following infection with Campylobacter jejuni subspecies jejuni reported from the Bdlkdn dred the present findings indicdte the need for systemdtic studies dnd further clinicdl epidemiologicdl dnd microbiologicdl .
