In this appendix we classify and describe concisely the different types of crystalline materials interfaces relevant to kinetic processes. The different types of point and line defects that may exist in these interfaces are also CRYSTALLINE INTERFACES AND THEIR GEOMETRICAL DEGREES OF FREEDOM Interfaces that involve a crystalline material may be classified in different ways. However the structure of crystal liquid interfaces is generally more complicated because the first few atomic layers on the liquid side of the interface are significantly affected by the presence of the interface and therefore act as part of the interface.
