He attended Our Lady of Good Counsel High School and graduated from Guru Nanak Khalsa Junior College Bombay in June 1980. He entered R. D. National College of Bombay University and received the degree of Bachelor of Science Physics and Statistics in June 1983. He then pursued a Diploma program in Computer Software and graduated in 1984. After working for one year he entered the Graduate School at Auburn University in June 1985 and received the degree of Master of Science in June 1988. He then enrolled in the Doctor of Philosophy program in Management Information Systems in September 1988. He married Simran daughter of Jasbir s. Kochar and Bhagwant Kochar in August 1987. .
