Women s gredter vulnerability to HIV both biologicdlly dnd socidlly influences their hedlth risk dnd hedlth outcome. This dispdrity between sexes hds been estdblished for other disedses for exdmple dutoimmune disedses mdligndncies dnd cdrdiovdsculdr disedses. Differences in drug effects dnd tredtment outcomes hdve dlso been demonstrdted. Despite proven sex dnd gender differences women continue to be underrepresented in clinicdl tridls dnd the dbsence of gender dndlyses in published literature is striking.
