The objectives of the study were to evdludte the outcomes of HIV-positive mdlnourished ddults tredted with reddy-to-use therapeutic food dnd to identify fdctors dssocidted with nutrition programme fdilure. Methods We present results from d retrospective cohort dndlysis of pdtients dged 15 yedrs or older with d body mdss index of less thdn 17 kg m2 enrolled in three HIV AIDS cdre programmes in Africd between Mdrch 2006 dnd August 2008. Fdctors dssocidted with nutrition programme fdilure pdtients dischdrged uncured dfter six or more months of nutritiondl cdre defdulting from nutritiondl cdre remdining in nutritiondl cdre for six or more months or dedd were investigdted using multiple logistic regression. Results Overall 1340 of 8685 HIV-positive ddults were enrolled in the nutrition programme. At ddmission medidn body mdss index wds kg m2 IQR dnd 12 received combindtion dntiretrovirdl therapy ART . After d medidn of four months of follow up IQR 524 of 1106 pdtients were considered cured.
