By default Backup uses volume shadow copies of files that are locked open when performing backups. This enables the program to back up files that are in use by an application at the time the backup is performed. You can prevent Backup from using volume shadow copy during a particular backup job by selecting the Disable Volume Shadow Copy check box in the Advanced Backup Options dialog box as shown in Figure 4-13 .
