The sample size was objectively assigned for different culture facilities in different study locations. Samples were then randomly selected in terms of feed types used in order to reflect the current state of feed use in catfish culture. Economic evaluation was also carried out with 48 farmers out of 107 samples that allowed to make comparison of economic efficiency between the two types of feeds used in different culture facilities. Data revealed that farm-made feed with combination feeding regime is still widely practiced in cage culture in the studied areas. Pellets are getting more popular in pond culture ofpangasiid catfish. Though farmers have started using fishmeal and soybean meal as trash fish substitution trash fish and rice-bran are still the main ingredients for farm-made feedformulation. Feed cost constitutes the largest proportion of catfish production cost for both cage and pond systems. Feed cost share in systems using pellets is always larger than those using farm-made feed. Catfish unit production cost is lower when farm-made feed is employed and higher when pellet is used. However unit production cost varied significantly in systems with farm-made feed.
