Semi-purified diets with 5 levels of equivelent ascorbic acid 0 200 500 1000 2000 mg kg diet were used for rearing M. rosenbergii larvae. The survival and metamorphosis rate of larvae in the experiments increased when vitamin C level in the diet increased. Prawns fed on the diet supplemented 2000 mg AA kg showing the highest survival rate and quantity of post-larvae per litter and PL l respectively . However there was no significant difference among the other treatments p excepting non- ascorbic supplemented diet. The growth rate of larvae was not affected by different AA levels and post-larvae size reached cm in PL. Larvae fed diets supplemented with vitamin C displayed resistance to salinity stress 65 o and Aeromonas hydrophila infection. Results from this study indicated that larvae of freshwater prawn Macrobrachium rosenbergii require not less than 200 mg kg dietary vitamin C for normal growth stress response and disease resitance.
