The aim was to find possible solutions for shrimp culture activity in the rainy season. Eight sites were collected including water supply sources Artemia mono culture and its adjacent fertilized pond Artmia-Salt integrated ponds and Salt fields. Besides physical water parameters BOD COD ammonia TKN H2S and TN TP both in water and mud were investigated. Samples of these parameters were taken monthly starting from April 2005 to April 2006. The results indicated that BOD was in an acceptable range 10 mg L and tended to be higher in the rainy season. COD fluctuated with a similar tendency as BOD however the concentration exceeded suitable range 30 mg L in the rainy season. The concentration of NH4 was higher in the dry season but still acceptable ranging from 0 1- 2 mg L H2S was extremely high especially in Artemia ponds up to 1 4 mg L. Although the lowest concentration ofH2S 0 014 mg L was found at the water supply source the gate this figure is still not desirable. Water TN was relatively high especially in August though the mean value was not exceeding 0 3 mg L. Similarly water TP was also high particularly in the dry season. Overall mean concentration of TP at most of the sites was greater than 0 3 mg L. TN and TP in mud were very high especially in the rainy season far from the acceptable range 3 mg L and 0 1 mg L respectively . These figures indicated that there are potentially high organic matters and nutrients which could be released into the water environment and cause eutrophication.
