One of the limitations of CT inspection is that the CT image provides detailed information only over the limited volume of the cross-sectional slice. Full inspection of the entire volume of a component with computed tomography requires many slices limiting the inspection throughput of the system. Therefore CT equipment is often used in a DR mode during production operations with the CT imaging mode used for specific critical areas or to obtain more detailed information on indications found in the DR image.
