As part of the process of formulating the Country Gender Assessment, a workshop was held in Kabul in September 2004, to which a wide range of international and national agencies1 active in the various sectors covered by this report were invited. The goal was to gather information about good practices and lessons learned and to benefit from the insight gained by various agencies that have been working in Afghanistan in some cases for more than two decades and whose expertise too rarely is drawn upon outside their own programs.
