tailieunhanh - The Implications of the Final Report of The Commission on the Future of Health Care in Canada for Women

Women's involvement in the formal sector has mainly been urban-based, as civil servants in the health and education sectors, where they had a sizeable presence before the conflict. This was severely disrupted by the strong restrictions on female employment during the Taliban period. Currently, close to one-third of all teachers are female, while an estimated 40% of all basic health facilities lack female staff, a clear constraint to delivering basic services (health, in particular) to women. The traditional role of women in Afghanistan is a constraint to their more equitable participation in economic activities. In particular, female wage labor is still viewed as a solution of last resort. | Reading Romanow The Implications of the Final Report of The Commission on the Future of Health Care in Canada for Women Revised and Updated Edition by The National Coordinating Group on Health Care Reform and Women Pat Armstrong Madeline Boscoe Barbara Clow Karen Grant Ann Pederson and Kay Willson with Olena Hankivsky Beth Jackson and Marina Morrow April 2003 National Coordinating Group on Health Care Reform and Women c o Centre for Health Studies York University 4700 Keele St. 214 York Lanes Toronto ON Canada M3J 1P3 Tel 416 736-5941 Fax 416 736-5986 Email nnewh@ healthreform For information about obtaining this publication contact Canadian Women s Health Network Suite 203- 419 Graham Avenue Winnipeg MB Canada R3C 0M3 Tel 204 942-5500 Fax 204 989-2355 Information line toll free 1-888-818-9172 TTY toll free 1-866-694-6367 Email cwhn@ Également disponible en franẹais.
