The Global Initiative on Transport Emissions (GITE) was created as a partnership between the United Nations and the World Bank to help the international community meet some of the above needs. The GITE projects and programmes are being developed in three clusters of activities. The Partnership for Vehicle and Fuel Technology Modernization (PVFTM) is intended to create a structured forum to investigate the reasons that more appropriate technologies are not used in particular regions, and what can be done to overcome the barriers to their use.
