An essential part of any business impact analysis is determining the potential effects of a pandemic on company business financials using multiple possible scenarios that affect different product lines and/or production sites. Depending on the sector and severity of the pandemic, the decline in demand could range from 3 per cent (mild scenario, manufacturing industry) to 67 percent (severe scenario, transportation and warehousing industry). Conversely, demand in the health sector will increase. A review of the literature shows a broad diversity of understandings usages and places in the firm. The paper identifies the terminology or ontology used to describe a business model and compares this terminology with previous work. Then the general usages roles and potential of the concept are outlined.
