Assistive technologies aim to enhance the daily life of people with disabilities, improving aspects such as mobility, communication, social interaction, manipulation of several objects and devices, etc. The main importance of assistive technology is based on the idea of making reachable what is not accessible for many people with disabilities. Such is the case of robotic wheelchairs, which improve mobility by using control system techniques, artificial intelligence and advanced sensors; humancomputer interfaces (such as brain-computer interfaces) for the generation of commands used for controlling devices, or voice-based systems that reads text or write text on the screen, among other examples | ASSISTIVE TECHNOLOGIES Edited by Fernando A.
