The DS1s are then multiplexed into DS2s for transmission over diverse fiber routes to a QLX remote cabinet on customer premises. The QLXs on customer premises monitor each copy of the DS1s within the DS2 and will select the best quality signal for delivery to the customer. Fiber route diversity is accomplished through the local loop portion of the network to the customer demarc. The Soneplex Broadband chassis with ODS2 modules can also be used when a DS3 is received from the Sonet ring and DS1 hicap route diversity is required to the customer premises.
