| TNU Journal of Science and Technology 228 14 98 - 105 STUDY ON CAPACITY INHIBIT CORROSION STEEL REBAR IN CONCRETE OF PHYLLANTHUS URINARIA EXTRACT IN SIMULATED SEAWATER Nguyen Thi Hoai Phuong1 Pham Tien Dung2 Vo Hoang Tung2 Le The Quang3 Ninh Duc Ha1 La Duc Duong1 Nguyen Tai Truong1 Nguyen Tien Dung4 1 Institute of Chemistry and Materials 2Institute of Environment - Vietnam Maritime University 3 Military Technical Academy 4Hanoi National University of Education ARTICLE INFO ABSTRACT Received 16 8 2023 Nowadays the search for organic corrosion inhibitor compounds to replace inorganic compounds is attracting much attention from scientists worldwide. Revised 17 10 2023 Organic compounds from nature are often accessible to collect and cheap Published 18 10 2023 mainly because they play a role in sustainable development and are environmentally friendly. This study evaluates the effectiveness of Phyllanthus Urinaria extract as an organic corrosion inhibitor of steel reinforcement in KEYWORDS simulated seawater NaCl solution . Electrochemical methods including Steel rebar in concrete polarization curves and electrochemical impedance studied the corrosion inhibition effect of the extract. Scanning electron microscopy SEM and Phyllanthus urinaria extract energy dispersive spectroscopy EDX were used to analyze the surface of the Seawater corrosion rebar samples. Electrochemical measurement results show that Phyllanthus Potentiodynamic polarization Urinaria extract is an effective corrosion inhibitor for concrete reinforcement curves caused by seawater. At a concentration of of the extract in simulated seawater Phyllanthus Urinaria can improve the corrosion resistance of steel Electrochemical impedance reinforcement when the corrosion rate is reduced to mm year compared spectroscopy to mm year without extracts. The results are the basis for orienting the application of Phyllanthus Urinaria extract to limit damage to reinforced concrete construction in the
