Method A cross-section description study was carried out on 202 pediatric patients from 1 month to under 5 years old with diagnosis of severe viral pneumonia according to WHO-2013 standards treated at the Vietnam National Children s Hospital from Feb 2015 to Feb 2017. Results Description of 202 patients with severe viral pneumonia showed that 149 patients had a single virus and 53 patients co-infected with viruses and bacteria. Hs-CRP 273 PCT and IL-6 were 0-500 . The distinguishment between mere viral pneumonia and co-infection of hs-CRP at a cut-off value of mg ml was Se and Sp of PCT at cut-off values of ng ml was Se and Sp . The AUC of hs-CRP was with 95 CI was - of the PCT was with 95 CI was - . Hs-CRP was cormable with PCT IL-6 PCT had a favorable correlation with IL-6. Conclusion Hs-CRP PCT is capable of distinguishing virus pneumonia merely and co- infected with Se and Sp differently. Hs-CRP PCT and IL-6 are relation.
