Gulf of Mannar is a unique marine habitat with diverse of macroaglae. They have a rich source of nutrients, biologically active UV absorbing compounds like Mycosporine like Amino acids (MAAs). In this study, red algae Gelidiella acerosa, Acanthophora spicifera and Hypnea musciformis collected from Pudumadam, Gulf of Mannar, southeast coast of India were used for isolation of MAAs. |
