Hiện nay, chất lượng sản xuất giống cá tra (Pangasianodon hypophthalmus) tại các tỉnh Đồng bằng sông Cửu Long (ĐBSCL), tỉ lệ sống từ cá bột lên cá giống đạt rất thấp (trên 10%) đã ảnh hưởng đến sản lượng, năng suất, giá thành và khả năng cạnh tranh của sản phẩm trên trường quốc tế.
