Cyanobacteria are photosynthetic microorganisms capable of producing high value pigments like phycoerythrin, phycocyanin, allophycocyanin, chlorophyll and carotenoids. These high value pigments have immense commercial value as they have applications in food, pharmaceutical and cosmetic industries.
