Five lines were crossed with four testers in L x T fashion to assess the general combining ability of parents, specific combining ability of crosses and to determine the mode of gene action involved in the inheritance of yield attributes and nutritional traits. The analysis of variance for combining ability revealed higher magnitude of sca variances than gca variances denotes the predominance of non-additive gene action for most of the yield contributing traits and nutritional traits. Further the ratio of variance due to general and specific combining ability was less than unity for all the traits also confirmed the role of non-additive gene action in governing these traits. | Combining ability studies for yield yield components and nutritional traits in greengram Vigna radiata L.
