The GKVK campus is located in the northern part of Bangalore, Karnataka (India) comprising 1380 acres land area receives ~ mm average rain fall and receives fairly good rain during monsoon. The climatic condition and soil are congenial for growth and development of different species of mushrooms. A variety of mushrooms belong edible, poisonous and medicinal species can be seen during rainy season. In this study, twenty one different mushroom species were collected during rainy season (July to October, 2014) and identified by Internal Transcribed Sequence (ITS) homology. Amongst 21 species, four species were edible, two species were medicinal and fifteen species were non edible/poisonous.
