Water reservoirs are always characterized for drinking water quality. However, in catchments where arable fields dominate, the impact of agriculture on water pollution is still problematic. In Ladakh, recently the fertilization level has decreased drastically due to detrimental impact on soil conditions, mostly for economic reasons as well as lastly getting more awareness on benefits of organic farming towards maintaining indigenous traditional knowledge/ methodologies.
