Barley (Hordeum vulgare L.) is the most important fourth largest cereal crop of world after maize, wheat and rice in the world with a share of 7% of the global cereal production. The crop is considered as poor man’s crop and better adaptable to problematic soils and marginal lands. Among the various production inputs, water is the most crucial in agriculture especially under limited water availability.
