The important phytochemicals isolated from various parts of the plant are alkaloids, cardiac glycoside, saponin, steroids, coumarines terpenoids, phenylpropenoids, tannins, polysaccharides and flavonoids. These phytochemical components are well known for their pharmacological and biological activity against certain chronic disease like cancer, cardiovascular disease, immunosuppressive disease and gastrointestinal disorder. The different parts of the plant extract possess pharmacological activities like anticonvulsant, antioxidant, antihyperglycemic, anxiolytic, antidepressant, antihistaminic, antimicrobial, hepato protective, analgesic, immuno modulatory, cardio protective and antithyroid activity.
