tailieunhanh - Antimicrobial properties of orange (Citrus reticulata var. Kinnow) peel extracts against pathogenic bacteria

Citrus peels are known for the abundant amounts of polyphenols present, which have been proven to possess antimicrobial activity. The objective of this project was to determine the phenolic content and antibacterial capacity of orange (Citrus reticulata var. Kinnow) peel extracts against pathogenic strains of Staphylococcus aureus, Escherichia coli, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, and Klebsiella pneumoniae. Peel powder of Orange was subjected to polyphenolic extraction using different solvents viz., petroleum ether, ethanol, acetone, and methanol. Pathogenic bacterial strains of Staphylococcus aureus, Escherichia coli, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, and Klebsiella pneumoniae were screened for the antibacterial activity of the extracts using disc diffusion technique. | Antimicrobial properties of orange (Citrus reticulata var.
