tailieunhanh - Effect of storage conditions on seed longevity of onion (Allium cepa L.)

An experiment was conducted to know the effect of storage conditions on seed quality of onion cv. Arka kalyan. The experiment consisted of three storage conditions (ambient condition, conditioned cold storage (18-20◦C, 45-50% RH), commercial cold storage (5-7 ͦC , 65 % RH). The results revealed that, seeds stored in commercial cold storage (5-7 ͦC + 65 % RH) recorded significantly higher seed germination, speed of germination, test weight, root length, shoot length, seedling dry weight, vigour index, lower moisture content and electrical conductivity after 10 months of storage. Hence commercial cold storage was found to be best for maintaining seed quality parameter. | Effect of storage conditions on seed longevity of onion (Allium cepa L.)
