Recombinant inbred line populations (RILs) have been widely used to discover QTLs in rice genome-wide, with hundreds of yield-related QTLs. In this research, F1 populations were created as prebreeding materials to develop RILs populations for validation of new QTL deriving from GWAS analysis for yield-related traits in Vietnamese local varieties. Four F1 populations were obtained from 4 crossings between 2 groups of rice displaying contrasted panicle structures, low branched versus high branched. Twelve SSR markers were tested for checking F1 lines, among them 7 SSR markers gave polymorphisms between parent lines. Therefore, 51 F1 lines selected by 7 SSR markers can be used as prebreeding materials to evaluate the role of the candidate QTL.
