Today China is the world s largest investor in clean energy and also energy efficiency. With the strong support of government and mobilize many finances from public private and foreign capital sources climate finance plays an important role in the successes of China in the process of transformation to the environment friendly economy. Introduction Over the last three decades China has experienced remarkable growth transforming the country into the second largest economy in the world. The growth largely driven by heavy industry and export oriented manufacturing has also made China the largest energy consumer as well as the largest emitter of greenhouse gasses GHGs in the world. This has come at a steep price to its environment and as the economy continues to grow the environmental challenges will inevitably escalate.
