This can remedy biased views on private ownership relations in a modern market economy as well as misunderstanding of the public ownership system. This also serves as necessary premises to continuously step up the renovation process in Vietnam. Keywords Marxism private ownership public ownership market economy. Introduction Renovation in Vietnam is in fact a process of transferring from a centrally planned economy designed on the basis of the thinking of the old-fashioned socialist economy into a market economy. The great achievements that the renovation process has brought about has confirmed the soundness of the transfer process. However difficulties and uncertainties accumulated in Vietnam s current economy also show that the driving forces created by the recent renovation phase are weakening and their exploitable potentials are running out. The renovation process should therefore be boosted in a thoroughgoing more consistent and less hesitant manner. To reach the target elevating obstacles to thinking is necessary premise. Ownership is a core relationship in an economic system. In Vietnam the issue of ownership is often discussed as a component of an economic model that a country should select.
