The land mapping units, resulting from the overlay of the selected theme layers, have unique land quality information, on which land suitability is based. Results showed that of the study area is highly or moderately suitable for rice cultivation, whereas 34% of that area is unsuitable for rice cultivation due to soil and topographic conditions. The model was also validated with field studies. According to the statistical analysis, there was a significant, positive relationship between land suitability classes and grain yields. Grain yield was significantly affected by land suitability class at the level of P – – >25 >60 > – 10–25 30–60 – SQI = R × T × D × F × Y × P × G × S × K × H Drainage (R) - Very Poor Poor Moderately good Good/excessive Texture (T) % CL, SiCL, SiL, C, SC L, SCL, SiC Si,SL, fSL G, S, LS Depth (D) cm > 50 25-50 15-25 6% Topography (F) Surface stoniness (Y) Landform and slope - >2 mm % Hard pan (P) 20–35 35–55 >55 >90 90–50 50–20 0– 10 –4 10–20 –5 >20 > >20 % 0–5 5–15 15–20 >20 - – – – – – > < cm h Salinity hazard (S) or ESP –1 dS m–1 (%) Lime (K) 328 <20 cm Hydraulic conductivity (G) Soil reaction (H) Flood plain or Low .
