Their structures were elucidated on the basis of spectroscopic data and by comparison with their spectral data reported in literature. INTRODUCTION Alpinia kwangsiensis T. L. Wu and S. J. Chen (A. kwangsiensis) belongs to the family Zingiberaceae and is a perennial herb that grows widely in valley forests in Guangdong, Guangxi, Guizhou, Yunnan provinces of China and the northern mountainous areas of Vietnam. Its roots can cure abdominal, stomach, vomiting, etc. [1, 2, 3]. The chemical constituents of the essential oil from rhizomes collected in China were identified by GC-MS method [4, 5]. The main compounds in the essential oil (camphor and eucalyptol) exhibited significant insecticidal activity on Lasioderma serricorne [5]. In Vietnam, this species is used only for food and medical treatment according to folklore [1, 6] and has never been reported on the phytochemicals and biological .
