OPENING CASE The Huge Scope of Privacy Issues The Problems •  Websites are Windows to the World and to Data: Websites can be used to access personal confidential data by hackers. Corporations that back up data in unencrypted formats could lose that data, also exposing private information. •  Medical Data are not Safe Either: Employees in hospitals or other medical organizations could use their access to medical data to sell private data to outsiders. OPENING CASE The Solutions Include: •  Anti-Spam Laws with Teeth: In addition to privacy laws, usage laws such as anti-spam legislation encourage appropriate use of customer data. •  Take Care of Your Systems and Data: It is important to be aware of and take care of your data, to help prevnt unauthorized use of it. 2 16-10-10 QUESTIONS •  Assess your web-surfing behaviour. Do you take enough steps to protect your personal data?
