Callus weight, percentage of hypocotyls producing shoots, shoot number per explant and total shoot number per petri dish were recorded as g, 40%, and , respectively in non-peeled explants. On the other hand, when the epidermis layer was peeled, callus weight, percentage of hypocotyls producing shoots, shoot number per explant and total shoot number per petri dish increased to g, , and , respectively.
