In this study, it was shown that transcription of the SUC2 gene, which encodes the cytoplasmic and secreted enzyme invertase, is modulated according to the environmental conditions in the yeast Saccharomyces cerevisiae. Hyperosmotic stress and oxidative stress repressed the transcription of the SUC2 gene up to 50%. However, preconditioning of the yeast cells prevented the negative effects of osmotic stress on SUC2 gene transcription. These results clearly show that, apart from the control of invertase activity and its secretion, osmotic stress and oxidative stress also represses transcription of the SUC2 gene in the yeast S. cerevisiae. Çeşitli Fizyolojik Streslerin Saccaharomyces cerevisiae’da SUC2 Geni Transkripsiyonuna Etkileri Abstract: Büyüme ortamının fizyolojik şartları maya hücrelerinde gen işleyişine önemli derecede etki eder. Bu çalışmada Saccharomyces cerevisiae'da sitoplazmada bulunun ve salgılanan invertaz enziminin kodlandığı SUC2 geni transkripsiyonunun çevre şartlarına göre değişebildiği gösterildi. Osmotik stres ve oksidatif stres şartlarının SUC2 geni transkripsiyonunu yaklaşık %50 kadar baskıladığı bulundu. Bununlu beraber, maya hücrelerinin osmotik strese karşı uyarılmasının, osmotik stres nedeniyle SUC2 geni transkripsiyonunun baskılanmasını önleyebildiği gösterildi. Elde edilen sonuçlar, osmotik stres ve oksidatif stres şartlarının invertaz enzimi aktivitesini ve invertaz salgılanmasını kontrol etmelerinin yanında SUC2 .
