If you are familiar with SQL Server 2005 you may have noticed that the Surface Area Configuration tool is not available when you install SQL Server 2008. The configuration of the Database Engine features is now managed using the Surface Area Configuration facet in Policy-Based Management. This section will walk you through exporting a Surface Area Configuration policy using the current state. In SQL Server Management Studio right-click the server instance you would like to configure and select Facets from the context menu.
