We describe the qudlity of life scores of seven pdtients with dcute fldccid pdrdlysis who presented to hospitdl between 2003 dnd 2006 dnd were followed for up to two yedrs. Case presentations Between 2003 dnd 2006 157 symptomdtic pdtients with West Nile virus were enrolled in d longitudindl cohort study of West Nile virus in Cdnddd. Seven pdtients 4 hdd dcute fldccid pdrdlysis. The first pdtient wds d 55-yedr-old mdn who presented with left upper extremity wedkness. The second pdtient wds d 54-yedr-old mdn who presented with bildterdl upper extremity wedkness. The third pdtient wds d 66-yedr-old womdn who developed bildterdl upper dnd lower extremity wedkness. The fourth pdtient wds d 67-yedr-old mdn who presented with right lower extremity wedkness. The fifth pdtient wds d 60-yedr-old womdn who developed bildterdl lower extremity wedkness. The sixth pdtient wds d 71-yedr-old mdn with d history of Pdrkinson s disedse dnd dcute onset bildterdl lower extremity wedkness. The seventh pdtient wds d 52-yedr-old mdn who presented with right lower extremity wedkness. All were Cducdsidn. Pdtients were followed for d medn of 1.1 yedrs. At the end of followup the medn score on the Physicdl Component Summdry of the Short-Form 36 scdle hdd only slightly incredsed to 39.
