During high precipitation, infiltration of sulphates and chromates occurred, and subsequently when low precipitation, the aquifer without recharge becomes a confined environment favourable to a reduction of sulphates to sulphide (H2S and HS¯) by a complex biochemical process (a phenomenon called sulphatoreducing), due to the bacterial activity. Subsequently, this reduction results from the sulphur rejected (Khe´rici et al., 2009) by a sulphato-reducing bacteria (Desulfovibrio desulfricans), which can transform of Cr(VI) to Cr(III) which is a stable substance. Cr(III) is stable at pH 7 with the presence of oxygen. While, chromate in the thermodynamic form is stable under these conditions, however, it is toxic to many organisms at very. | 2007 SURVEY OF THE RECREATIONAL COD FISHERY OF NEWFOUNDLAND AND LABRADOR Prepared by BriLev Consulting Inc. for Recreational Fisheries Resource Management National Fisheries and Aquaculture Management January 2008 2007 Survey of the Recreational Cod Fishery of Newfoundland and Labrador Table of Contents Introduction 3 Highlights 3 Concepts Terms and Definitions 5 Survey Overview 6 Survey Results 7 Angler Profile 7 Sex Profile 9 Age Profile 10 Fishing Effort 12 Harvest - Cod 13 Harvest - Wolffish 17 Appendices A Survey Methodology and Data Quality 18 B Questionnaire 27 C Supplementary Tables - Information Only 31 Fisheries and Oceans Canada Resource Management FAM 1 2007 Survey of the Recreational Cod Fishery of Newfoundland and Labrador 2 Fisheries and Oceans Canada Resource Management .
