As a tool of spatial analysis it is an efficient way to explore spatial phenomena. We often grasp the structure of a spatial phenomenon by only looking at the picture indicating the phenomenon. Changing the scale of visualization we detect spatial patterns at various scales from local to global. Visualization is also useful for making a decision on spatial phenomena. In sightseeing for instance tourist maps help us finding good places to visit and stay.
