Be prepared to ask questions during/after class. Reread your text books and lecture notes more than once as you are almost guaranteed to learn/retain more information if you read something more than once. If youre at university you should be prepared to spend at least 3 to 4 hours every day reading lecture notes and text books, as well as gathering information. Tips For Getting The Best Out University Attend every lecture, seminar and workshop -- try not to miss one -- as that will almost certainly be the most important one! Work on your assignments when you get them. Work with other people so you can exchange ideas/opinions. Stop yourself from getting stressed out about work by organizing time for your study around the others demands in your life. Try to create a healthy balance where you have time for fun as well as study. Balancing Study And Other Areas Of Your Life Managing your time well for each subject you study is important, however you also need to make sure you strike a good balance between your work and your social life.     Dedicate time for each subject you are studying. Try to study one subject a day. You need to balance time. Make a personal timetable. Even if you dont stick to it, youll at least have an idea of what you should be doing each day. This is better than trying to do many different things each day and, at the end of the week, not achieving anything. Also, try to keep your weekends free from study. Only study at the weekend if you really have to.      When I was at university I had to learn how to balance; work, study, and family. I worked part time as a customer service representative at a big telecoms company and had at least six courses to complete at the same time. I also had to help around the house doing household cleaning and shopping. I still managed to finish my college work on time though, which was challenging, and still hold down a job. How was it possible? Well, I only did my part-time work at the weekend and my college work was done from Monday through Friday before the week ends. This was hard - but achievable. You can do it too as long as you set a timetable for yourself.       Use the time you have well. Do not leave anything until the last minute, as this will only cause problems.    Studying is a big commitment and requires a great deal of time to be set aside to do well. Managing time is crucial for any student who wants to succeed. By managing your time, other commitments can be fulfilled and you can study without distractions. But finance and child-care are serious problems. I found that the only way to get good grades was by doing less paid work so that I had more time for my studies. The problems are real, but make your action plan for the week and stick to it. This will help you study and deal with your other responsibilities in the best way.
